They rang in the new year with a 62-53 win over Magnolia. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Magnolia is ranked 661st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aedan Lewis out in front who scored 19 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lewis posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Sutton, who scored 17 points.
Lake Creek is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Magnolia, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
Lake Creek will be playing at home against A&M Consolidated at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A&M Consolidated is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Magnolia, they will challenge Montgomery at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
