Softball Recap: Pottsboro Wins Going Away Against Sam Rayburn

Pottsboro barely beat Sam Rayburn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pottsboro Cardinals put the hurt on the Sam Rayburn Rebels with a sharp 9-2 win on Thursday. Considering the Cardinals have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Chayse Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She also tossed two walks, marking her first of the season. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Rachel Perry and Savannah Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Perry scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Smith went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Pottsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Pottsboro back to even at 4-4-1. As for Sam Rayburn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Pottsboro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-5 defeat against Collinsville on the 27th. As for Sam Rayburn, they will square off against Tom Bean at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sam Rayburn is facing Tom Bean at the right time seeing as Tom Bean is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
