The Westfield Shamrocks put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Mt. Vernon by a score of 41-30. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Westfield has scored all season.
Westfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nic Book out in front who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Book's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Durante Morton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Westfield's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Mt. Vernon, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westfield will take on Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Yorktown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Thursday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield-Central will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
