After flying high against the Carter G. Woodson Eagle last Wednesday, the Corvian Community Cardinals came back down to earth. Corvian Community had to suffer through a rough 68-28 loss at the hands of Pine Lake Prep. Corvian Community has not had much luck with Pine Lake Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Victoria Sandiford, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Wheatley, who scored eight points.
Corvian Community's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Pine Lake Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.
Corvian Community won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mountain Island Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Mountain Island Charter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Pine Lake Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Community School of Davidson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
