The Munster Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Hanover Central Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Munster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Illiana Christian on Wednesday as Munster made off with a 65-42 win. The win was just what Munster needed coming off of a 53-28 loss in their prior match.
Munster found their leader in underclassman Gracyn Gilliard, who dropped a triple-double on 29 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals. The match was Gilliard's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nina Garner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Even though Hanover Central has not done well against Andrean recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Hanover Central managed a 32-27 victory over Andrean. Given Hanover Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Andrean is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Skylar Ferry, who scored seven points along with seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmi Doty, who scored seven points.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Hanover Central, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Munster hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.2 points per game. It's a different story for Hanover Central, though, as they've been averaging only 46.2 points per game. The only thing between Munster and another offensive beatdown is Hanover Central. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Munster strolled past Hanover Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a score of 50-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Munster since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
