Hays has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lehman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hawks will look to defend their home court against the Lobos at 6:30 p.m. Hays will be strutting in after a win while Lehman will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Hays turned things around against Glenn on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Grizzlies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since August 29th.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hays who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-11.
Hays can attribute much of their success to Ayla Matias, who had 17 digs and two aces, and Olivia Conway, who had 29 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Matias has posted over her last seven matches.
They weren't the only good servers: Hays was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They are a perfect 8-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Lehman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Leander.
The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-16, 25-8.
Hays' victory bumped their record up to 16-18. As for Lehman, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.
Everything went Hays' way against Lehman in their previous meeting back in September, as Hays made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lobos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
