They were the victim of a rough 83-57 defeat at the hands of Mountain Island Charter on Wednesday. Union Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
Despite the defeat, Union Academy had strong showings from Heath Lunsford, who scored 8 points along with 15 rebounds and 4 steals, and Joey Shearin, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds. Miles McGinnis was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 5 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Union Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Island Charter only pulled down ten.
The losses dropped Central Academy to 1-4 and Montgomery Central to 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Central Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.8 rebounds per game.
