2A District 2 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Crooked Oak moved up to 202 from 235 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 2. The Ruf-Nex were able to make the jump by beating the Ruf-Nex 56-8.
Oklahoma Christian took down Crooked Oak 56-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Brooks threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns, ran for six yards and caught two passes for 30 yards in the win.
Tazden Jevons was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 234 yards as Dibble fell to Dibble. Dallas Danielson also contributed to the rushing game with 26 yards on the ground.
Colton Lindsey provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Christian Heritage beat Northeast. He completed 17 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 68 yards. Lindsey's favorite target this week was Dillon East, who caught three passes for 79 yards.
Wright was the best wideout in the league this week as the Lions lost to the Demons. Wright racked up eight receptions for 145 yards. Steven Northerton helped Luther's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 97 yards.
The Saints' Brooks and Blake Barnes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Brooks has thrown for 940 yards this season, while Barnes, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 19 catches for 350 yards. Dibble's Jevons leads the league in rushing yards with 722.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Crusaders take on Millwood. Christian Heritage is in fourth place, while the Falcons are in first place.
JR Conard's team and Luther played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with JR Conard's team eventually emerging with a 32-26 victory. Jevons threw for 42 yards in the win.
