On Thursday, the Blue Ridge Barons faced the Highland Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Blue Ridge came out on top against Highland by a score of 58-51. For Blue Ridge, this counts as revenge for the 67-66 defeat Highland walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Shanon Simango was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Kamren Martin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Highland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.
Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oak Hill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Highland on the road again on Monday and play against Evergreen Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th.
