The South Garner Titans fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Corinth Holders Pirates on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 60-57. South Garner has struggled against Corinth Holders recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, South Garner still got an impressive performance from Tamia Darden, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Darden has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Breelyn Dean, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Corinth Holders' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darla Lee, who scored 24 points along with five assists and three steals. Lee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Sizemore, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
South Garner's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Corinth Holders, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.
South Garner will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southeast Raleigh at 6:30 p.m. Southeast Raleigh is coming into the contest with 11 straight wins on the road, so South Garner is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Corinth Holders, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Willow Spring at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Willow Spring will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Corinth Holders surely won't give up without a fight.
