Basketball Game Preview: Pe Ell Trojans vs. Oakville Acorns

Pe Ell is 6-0 against Oakville since December of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Pe Ell Trojans will face off against the Oakville Acorns at 5:30 p.m. Pe Ell will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

If Pe Ell beats Oakville with 55 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Pe Ell blew past Willapa Valley 55-21 on Saturday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Pe Ell relied on the efforts of Karli Phelps, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists, and Maisy King, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Phelps has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madi Engel, who posted eight points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Pe Ell was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Willapa Valley only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Oakville didn't have quite enough to beat Columbia Adventist Academy on Tuesday and fell 41-39. The Acorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pe Ell's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.8 points per game. As for Oakville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Pe Ell strolled past Oakville in their previous meeting on January 7th by a score of 53-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pe Ell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
