Fort Thomas is 8-1 against St. David since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Fort Thomas Apaches' road trip will continue as they head out to face the St. David Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Fort Thomas didn't have too much trouble with Safford on the road as they won 47-33. Given Fort Thomas' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Safford is ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, St. David put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Salome 45-26.
St. David's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mayla Trejo led the charge by scoring 14 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. The match was Trejo's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anissa Jacquez, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
Fort Thomas is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for St. David, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Fort Thomas came out on top in a nail-biter against St. David when the teams last played back in December of 2022, sneaking past 49-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Thomas since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
