After flying high against the Fayette Academy Vikings on Tuesday, the Millington Central Trojans came back down to earth. Millington Central took a 91-73 bruising from Dyer County on Friday. Millington Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dyer County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Despite the loss, Millington Central still got an impressive performance from Brandon Payne, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists. Another player making a difference was Tayshaun Dye, who scored 14 points.
Millington Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Dyer County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millington Central will take on Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Tipton-Rosemark Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Millington Central is ranked 101st). Dyer County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McNairy Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd. McNairy Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
