Freedom extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Sumner Stingrays. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since March 27, 2025.
Trent Strawser looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devon Acord, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Keven Made was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Freedom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
As for Sumner, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.75 runs allowed.
On Sumner's side, they got a good showing from JACKSON SALISBURY, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, ISAIAH ROMANO and WINSTON PENNANT did some serious damage despite the final result: ROMANO got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double, while PENNANT got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of ERIk FARMER, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will host Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sumner, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lennard at 7:00 p.m.
