Basketball Recap: Lincoln North Star Piles Up the Points Against Norfolk

Lincoln North Star won the last time they faced Norfolk and things went their way on Friday too. The Lincoln North Star Navigators took their game with ease, bagging a 77-39 victory over the Norfolk Panthers. The Navigators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 31 points or more this season.

Mekhi Wayne-Browne had an outrageously good game as he made all 8 shots he took racking up 18 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Rieal Acin, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Lincoln North Star was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Jarecki, who went 6 of 13 en route to 16 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Jarecki a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Makshantsev, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Lincoln North Star and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Norfolk, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Lincoln North Star has already played their next contest, a 58-54 victory against Millard West on the 18th. As for Norfolk, they will face off against Lincoln High at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln High knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Norfolk likes a good challenge.
