Softball Recap: Oswego Wins Going Away Against Carmel

Oswego came out on top against Carmel on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Corsairs. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 20 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaelynn Anthony made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Anthony was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Oswego let Aubriella Garza and Kiyah Chavez run wild. Garza fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2, while Chavez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two home runs gave Garza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rikka Ludvigson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Oswego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carmel only posted an OBP of .353.

Oswego's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carmel, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oswego will host Bolingbrook at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Carmel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Joliet Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
