The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will face off against the Bountiful RedHawks at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maple Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Maple Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Cyprus 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted since March 7th.
Kyla Donegan was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. McClain Carter was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Maple Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Bountiful had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Wolverines.
Ella Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Isabeau Hoff was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. McKinley Duryea also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Bountiful's record now sits at 26-4. As for Maple Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Both Maple Mountain and Bountiful just can't seem to miss. The Golden Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maple Mountain couldn't quite get it done against Bountiful in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 as they fell 9-4. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
