The Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers are taking a road trip to face off against the Mescalero Apache Chiefs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mescalero Apache took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mesilla Valley Christian School, who comes in off a win.
Mesilla Valley Christian School had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Capitan on Tuesday. The SonBlazers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win. The SonBlazers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The final score came out to 25-5, 25-15, 25-16.

Mesilla Valley Christian School relied on the efforts of Julia Black, who had ten digs and two aces, and Ella Rice, who had eight assists and four aces. Rice has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played. Kyler Tharp also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Mesilla Valley Christian School was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 15 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Mescalero Apache was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Lordsburg, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-8, 25-10.
Mescalero Apache's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Everything went Mesilla Valley Christian School's way against Mescalero Apache in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Mesilla Valley Christian School made off with a 3-0 victory.
