Canyon State Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. After both having extra time off, the Canyon State Academy Rams and the Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Canyon State Academy proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 37) but two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 victory over Sequoia Charter.
Meanwhile, Heritage Academy Gateway can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-42 margin over Empower College Prep. The victory was nothing new for Heritage Academy Gateway as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Heritage Academy Gateway relied on the efforts of Cayleb Couch, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Landon Johnston, who scored 19 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that Couch scored 15 or more points. Brock Akin was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Canyon State Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Heritage Academy Gateway, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Canyon State Academy suffered a grim 63-41 defeat to Heritage Academy Gateway in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Canyon State Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
