The Downsville Demons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their tough 49-29 loss to Dodson might stick with them for a while. Downsville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dodson apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
Despite the loss, Downsville still got an impressive performance from Piper Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Bennett scored a full 51.7% of Downsville's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eden Miller, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Downsville were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Downsville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Dodson, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-11.
Downsville will be home for the holidays to greet D'Arbonne Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Dodson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Saline at 6:00 p.m. on January 23, 2024.
