The Hickory Grove Christian Lions will be playing at home against the Concord Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Hickory Grove Christian earned a 43-30 win over Hickory Christian Academy. The win was just what Hickory Grove Christian needed coming off of a 66-21 defeat in their prior game.
Hickory Grove Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gracey Libby, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 steals. Another player making a difference was Lauren Feaster, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Concord Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). They claimed a resounding 79-24 victory over Calvary Day School at home.
Concord Academy found their leader in underclassman Justice Alexander, who scored 26 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Meyers, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The losses dropped Hickory Grove Christian to 3-1 and Hickory Christian Academy to 0-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hickory Grove Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Concord Academy struggles in that department as they've been even better at 41 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
