Even though the Sand Creek Scorpions scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies still came out on top. Mesa Ridge took their matchup against Sand Creek 74-67. That's another feather in the cap for Mesa Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Mesa Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Widic, who scored 26 points. Tevin Riehl was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds.
Mesa Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Sand Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Ridge will face off against Pueblo East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sand Creek will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th.
