This season hasn't been kind to the Bloomington Purple Raiders, who are still winless after their 16th match. They were dealt a 87-58 defeat at the hands of Peoria on Friday. Bloomington has not had much luck with Peoria recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Bloomington's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brock Holtz, who scored 19 points, and Robert Clark, Jr who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Holtz scored 15 or more points.
Even though they lost, Bloomington were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Bloomington's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-16. As for Peoria, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomington will take on Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bloomington in Illinois (Lincoln is ranked 78th, while Bloomington is ranked 536th). As for Peoria, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Normal West at 6:30 p.m. Normal West has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
