Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Pearland Oilers walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-14 victory over Dickinson on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Pearland's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Dickinson is ranked 19th).
Cole Morkovsky threw for 127 yards and a touchdown. Patrick Bridges was his top target, picking up 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Ladamion Mcdowell rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Pearland, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. As for Dickinson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Pearland will take on Atascocita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dickinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
