The Mauldin Mavericks came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woodmont 70-32 at home. Mauldin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.
Mauldin found their leader in underclassman Zara Leamon, who scored 23 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Leamon hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Soltys, who scored 12 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Woodmont's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tyana Pullman, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds, and Shemaiyah Earle who scored six points along with 11 rebounds. Trinity Nesbitt was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mauldin's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Woodmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Mauldin the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome T.L. Hanna at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. T.L. Hanna will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Mauldin is ranked first). Woodmont's road trip will continue as they head out to face J.L. Mann at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. J.L. Mann is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.5 points per game.
