Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Meridian Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by the Jaguars 60-31 on Thursday. Meridian has not had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
NYOS Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colin Shelton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shelton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trey Huff, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for NYOS Charter, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.
Meridian is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Jaguars at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully NYOS Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. As for they, they will take on Meridian at 12:30 p.m.
