Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Humboldt Cubs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 49-18 loss at the hands of Sabetha on Friday. Humboldt's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Humboldt lost, one person who can't be blamed is Blake Ellis. Despite the final result, he threw for 254 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Humboldt's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Sabetha, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Humboldt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sabetha will head out on the road to face off against Nemaha Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nemaha Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
