The Pelion Panthers lost to the Wagener-Salley War Eagles back in January, but the Pelion Panthers didn't allow the Wagener-Salley War Eagles the same satisfaction on Friday. Pelion enjoyed a cozy 41-25 win over Wagener-Salley.
Pelion was led to victory by Kierra Gordon and Kalani Tolen. Gordon scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, while Tolen scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Esmeralda Hernandez, who scored 10 points.
The win got Pelion back to even at 1-1. As for Wagener-Salley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pelion will challenge Horse Creek Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Horse Creek Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Wagener-Salley, they will head out on the road to face off against Brookland-Cayce at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
