Chouteau-Mazie has gone a perfect 4-0 against Afton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Chouteau-Mazie will welcome Afton at 4:30 p.m. Chouteau-Mazie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Chouteau-Mazie needed a bit of extra time to put away Colcord. They were the clear victors by a 17-10 margin over the Hornets. The Wildcats not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd.

Lucas Grossman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Chouteau-Mazie: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-8 otherwise. Grossman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Kyler Hill was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since March 3rd. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayler Applegate, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.
Chouteau-Mazie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Afton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 13-2 to Wyandotte. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Afton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Owens, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Owens hit this season. Another was Brady Robinson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Chouteau-Mazie's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Afton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Chouteau-Mazie took their win against Afton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1. Will Chouteau-Mazie repeat their success, or does Afton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
