1A Conference 6 recap October 8, 2013
West Montgomery's Fred Lomax rumbled for the longest rushing play in 1A Conference 6 this season in his game against Union Academy last week. Lomax scampered for 92 yards on the play and finished with 179 on the day as his team topped the Cardinals.
North Moore was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from ninth to seventh in the league. Earlier in the week, the Mustangs triumphed over South Davidson 41-0.
Suave Pegues was a force in the backfield as West Montgomery defeated Union Academy.
Craig Twele threw for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Pegues was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 223 yards as Nick Eddins' team fell to Nick Eddins' team. Teammate Lomax added to the ground attack by rushing for 179 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Timmie White. The Albemarle star has 14 catches for 457 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Conference 6 this week will be when Albemarle takes on the Warriors. The Bulldogs are currently in third, while West Montgomery is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Albemarle and the Warriors face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Seth Smith's team comes in having scored 240 this season, while West Montgomery has scored 269.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Warriors beat the Cardinals 56-23. The victory was the fourth in a row for West Montgomery.
