Marian Catholic came out on top against Executive Education Academy Charter School on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run third inning. Considering Marian Catholic has won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayla Birrer spent all three innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hailey Treskolasky and Malina Letcher did most of the damage at the plate: Treskolasky got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Letcher went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Tri-Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Marian Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Tri-Valley took their victory against Marian Catholic in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 16-5 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marian Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
