Foothill has gone 8-2 against Red Bluff recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Foothill will be playing at home against Red Bluff at 4:00 p.m. Foothill will be strutting in after a victory while Red Bluff will be coming in after a defeat.
It was a proper cat-fight when Foothill challenged Yamhill-Carlton on Friday. Foothill came out on top against Yamhill-Carlton by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Elisea Wiegand made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Foothill let Malia Webb and Hazel Gist run wild. Webb scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Gist scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that Gist snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Vakulich, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Red Bluff came up short against Gridley on Tuesday, falling 10-4. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Red Bluff saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Dyke, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Foothill's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Red Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Foothill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Red Bluff struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
