Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wauseon on Thursday, Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Fighting Irish lost 15-8 to the Brother Rice Warriors on Saturday. The Fighting Irish haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Dre Wardrop was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Central Catholic's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-14 when he doesn't). Preston Fryzel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Brother Rice, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Warriors beat Central Catholic by a score of 8-5 later that day.
