Softball Recap: Garrett Victorious

Garrett hadn't done well against Fairfield recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Railroaders came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 5-2. This was payback for the Railroaders, who suffered a 13-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aliviah Mowery and Peyton Grindstaff did most of the damage at the plate: Mowery went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Grindstaff went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That double marked the first that Mowery has hit this season. Jayiden Feicht was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Garrett's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fairfield, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Garrett didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Hamilton on the 23rd. As for Fairfield, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Lakeland on the 24th.
