Christian had won four straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped up to 16-4 to make it five. Everything went their way against the Point Loma Pointers as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Thursday.
Taya Vincent paced Christian's offense, picking up 12 kills. Vincent got some help from Maxim? Pheasant and her 26 assists. Pheasant was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
As for Point Loma, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since August 26th.
Despite the loss, Point Loma saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Olivia Karvelis had ten digs. Karvelis has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Savannah Thompson also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian will square off against Coronado at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Point Loma, they will face off against Patrick Henry at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Pointers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
