Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Beaumont Cougars proved on Friday. They took down Redlands East Valley 67-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Beaumont.
Beaumont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrian Farias, who scored 12 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Joseph, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dariel Bahamontes, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Jeremiah Ivens was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Beaumont's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Redlands East Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaumont will square off against Redlands at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Redlands will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 587th, while Beaumont is ranked 178th). As for Redlands East Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Citrus Valley at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
