The Killingly Trailblazers will face off against the Wheeler Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Monday, Killingly came up short against Ledyard and fell 6-3.
Killingly saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Durand, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Kylie Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Wheeler hadn't done well against Stonington recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bears 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since May 21, 2025.
Victoria Kleemann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Molly Perkins, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Camilla LeSage was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Killingly's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Wheeler, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Killingly came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Trailblazers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
