The Crossroad Academy Scorpions won the last time they faced the Madison County Cowboys, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Crossroad Academy came out on top against Madison County by a score of 55-43. Given Crossroad Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Madison County is ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Crossroad Academy to victory were Davel Dixon and Tyrek Jessie. Dixon scored 14 points, while Jessie scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dixon has scored all season. Jabari Boahen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Madison County had strong showings from Labron Lee, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, and Marcus Hawkins jr., who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Lee hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Za?vion Bryant, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Crossroad Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Madison County, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-7 record last season and are now at 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crossroad Academy will challenge Marianna at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marianna has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 216 points over their last three games. As for Madison County, they will head out on the road to face off against Munroe at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Munroe will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
