Baseball Recap: Northview Comes Up Short

Northview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jay Royals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chiefs have suffered since March 29, 2024.

Brady Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Northview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Grayden Sheffield was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Northview now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Jay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7.

Looking ahead, Northview will head out to square off against West Florida at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Florida's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Northview's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Jay, they will welcome T.R. Miller at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
