East Canton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Audrey Wade out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wade has scored at least 25% of East Canton's points. Another player making a difference was Ella Carter, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Caldwell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Monroe Central, falling 53-26. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Caldwell has scored all season.
Katie Franklin put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Franklin is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Caldwell struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
East Canton's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Caldwell, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: East Canton have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Caldwell, though, as they've been averaging only 27 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
