The Rancho Verde Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Orange Vista Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Rancho Verde can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 37-7 victory over Heritage. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-0.
It was another big night for Dylan Riley, who rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Riley really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run.
Meanwhile, Orange Vista got themselves on the board against Temescal Canyon on Thursday, but Temescal Canyon never followed suit. They blew past the Titans 42-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Orange Vista, who have now won five games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Orange Vista found their leader in underclassman Khalil Abdul-aziz, who threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Sandy Smith also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Rancho Verde's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.2 points per game. As for Orange Vista, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Rancho Verde took a serious blow against Orange Vista in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 51-14. Can Rancho Verde avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
