Sandia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 70-50 margin over the Mayfield Trojans. That's more bragging rights for the Matadors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Mayfield had strong showings from Ceanna McKines, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Ashlyn Maya, who shot 55% from the field en route to 20 points. That was a full 52% of the Trojans' points, marking the third time in a row McKines has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Sandia's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mayfield, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Sandia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-50 win against Centennial on the 6th. As for Mayfield, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-36 victory against Rio Grande on the 6th.
