Softball Recap: Dover-Eyota Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dover-Eyota had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Fillmore Central/Lanesboro on Monday. The Eagles never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Foster made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dover-Eyota let Nora Hansen and Jolie Draper run wild. Hansen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Draper got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Hansen has posted since back in May of 2024. Kyllee Howlett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Dover-Eyota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fillmore Central/Lanesboro only managed four hits.

The victory (which was Dover-Eyota's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Fillmore Central/Lanesboro, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Dover-Eyota didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-7 victory against Cotter on the 17th. As for Fillmore Central/Lanesboro, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander on the 16th.
