If The Montpelier Locomotives were feeling good off their 56-0 takedown of the Hilltop Cadets last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Montpelier was beaten by Hopewell-Loudon 46-14 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Montpelier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 529th, while Hopewell-Loudon is ranked 171st).
Montpelier's loss came despite strong showings from Brayden Brink and Grant Girrell. Brink picked up 142 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Girrell threw for 66 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Brink was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 66 yards.
Montpelier's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Hopewell-Loudon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Montpelier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hopewell-Loudon has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Pandora-Gilboa at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Pandora-Gilboa is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
