The Spring Valley Grizzlies pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-61 to Coronado. Spring Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Spring Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charolette Delisle, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Jada Green was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Spring Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only racked up eight assists.
Coronado found their leader in underclassman Ella Creer, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Creer has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Lopez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Spring Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Coronado, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will square off against the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Faith Lutheran's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Coronado, they will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Ridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
