It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Andrew Jackson Volunteers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 51-20 victory over Kingstree. The win was familiar territory for Andrew Jackson who now have seven in a row.
Trey Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 187 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Thompson is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Brady Williams was another key contributor, throwing for 242 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Kingstree's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ja'Shaun Dorsey, who rushed for 100 yards on only 13 carries, and also threw for 189 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Tyleek Dukes, who picked up 133 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Andrew Jackson pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Buford and 2-8 Chesterfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.9% over those games). As for Kingstree, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-7.
Andrew Jackson will head out on the road to face off against Hampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hampton County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Kingstree does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
