The Aspen Skiers came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 52-25 victory over Vail Mountain at home. Aspen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Aspen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Hurd led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds. Tommy Franceschi was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Aspen pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Vail Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aspen will challenge Coal Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coal Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Aspen is ranked 30th). Vail Mountain's road trip will continue as they head out to face Meeker at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th. Meeker has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 246 points over their last four matchups.
