Brookfield dropped to 9-9 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Southeast Pirates, falling 14-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-7 back in April.
Elaina Boyce and Cassi Samios stepped up to the plate in a big way. Boyce went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Samios went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Luciana Kolat was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
As for Southeast, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7. Considering they have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
On Southeast's side, Savannah Powell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. What's more, Powell posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Southeast got a massive performance out of Morgan Muncy, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lylia Lavigna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Brookfield will head out on the road to challenge Mineral Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Southeast, they will head out to take on Alliance at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
