Savannah Country Day is 0-4 against Beach since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Savannah Country Day Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Beach Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Beach took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Savannah Country Day, who comes in off a win.
Even though Savannah Country Day has not done well against Calvary Day recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Savannah Country Day sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over Calvary Day. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Savannah Country Day found their leader in underclassman Rudy Anderson, who scored 28 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Spaulding iv, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Beach pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Long County. While losing is never fun, Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Long County is ranked 118th).
The win was the third in a row for Savannah Country Day, bringing their record for this year to 10-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
Savannah Country Day came up short against Beach in their previous meeting back in January, falling 42-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beach's James Tisby, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
