The Union County Yellowjackets will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Woodruff Wolverines at 7:45 p.m. Union County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Emerald scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Union County still came out on top. Union County walked away with a 67-59 win over Emerald.
Union County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathan Koepke led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. Koepke hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keishawn Gibson, who scored 17 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Woodruff came up short against Clinton on Wednesday and fell 63-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woodruff in their matchups with Clinton: they've now lost five in a row.
Union County's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Woodruff, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Union County couldn't quite finish off Woodruff when the teams last played back in November of 2023 and fell 48-45. Can Union County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
